Our prayers and deepest sympathy go to the Pelican Rapids High School Band and the family of Jessica Weishair in Pelican Rapids, MN. Two other students remained hospitalized. The band was returning from a trip to Chicago when one of the two buses was in an accident. Details below, including the school address, family address, and information on the assistance fund.

band trip bus accident:
At 6:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2008, administration was notified that one of the two charter buses (Bus 1) returning from the Pelican Rapids High School Chicago Band Trip tipped on its side on Interstate 94 westbound near exit 201. Students on Bus 2 were not involved in the accident and were transported back home. The students on Bus 1 were taken to local hospitals to be checked for injuries, and they then gathered at St. Albert's Parish Center in Albertville, where they were cared for by community members. All students were interviewed by law enforcement before boarding buses to come back to Pelican Rapids.
The family of Jessica Weishair wishes to pass this message to our community:
" The Weishair family is grateful for the love, concern, and respect that has been offered to us in the sudden death of our precious Jessica. We appreciate the many professionals, community members, friends, and strangers who are supporting us. Even though we are struggling with our grief, we hold in our thoughts those who have been injured and all the students, staff, chaperones and their families who were involved in the band trip. Our community is loving, strong, and faithfilled. These are the very things that we all need to give and receive as we find our way together."

The funeral arrangements for Jessica have been set for Friday, April 11, 2008 in the PRHS Gym at 2:00 p.m.
Two other students, Hannah Klovstad and Amy Davenport, both grade 11, remain hospitalized.
